Categories: Stress Chamber Music Film Suspense Torpor Fear Aggression Japan Winter
Description:
A tone is generated, becomes more intense and disappears, comparable to the cycle of growth and decay, of genesis and decline in nature, to the breathing of living creatures or to the waves of the sea. To the Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa, it is important to immerse oneself deeply into the tone, to 'vertically' feel the 'landscape' of a certain sound with all its colours and shades. The composer interweaves music and nature, Eastern and Western philosophy in a unique way. In 'Die Tiefe der Zeit' composed in 1994, the cello symbolizes the male principle, the accordion the female principle, and the strings the universe, the air and the clouds.
