| Description: |
Only few composers have been able to capture the magic of a landscape in music like Percy A. Grainger who succeeded in composing a real masterpiece when writing his short orchestral piece 'Irish Tune from County Derry'. Wide boundless landscapes in virgin nature – this is how Ireland has appeared to the human eye for thousands of years. There is hardly anyone who would remain unmoved by the sight of quiet gentle rolling hills winding through the country, of lush greens and meadows and clear streams meandering through them. This tune is a hymn that has an incredible pull, telling in strong, rich colours of the pride and freedom of an independent nation.
