| Description: |
Brimming with restrained tenderness and sweetness, yet quiet and meditative, as if lost in reverie: a moment of pausing in 'Carmina Burana', the probably most famous work in music history that, as major classical open-air event, elicits again and again thunderous applause from the audience today. 'In trutina mentis dubia' – this lyric aria is about the faltering scale of a woman's heart. The performance instructions 'sempre velato', 'con estrema sensibilità' for the soprano and the 'pianissimo' or 'pianississimo' for the instruments indicate how Orff wanted his music to be understood.
