for orchestra (1945)
Instrumentation: orchestra
Categories: Piano Orchestra Film Stress breathless Confusion Fear Aggression
Description:

Composed in 1946, “Symphony in Three Movements” for large orchestra bridges the gap between the symphony and piano concerto.  A fusion of Haydn, Beethoven, samba, rumba and boogie styles blend together into a symphonic form – all constantly stirring and at an incredibly fast pace. Stravinsky completed the symphony during the last months of World War II and conducted the premiere with the New York Philharmonic in 1946 himself.
