Henri Dutilleux's piece 'Sur le même accord' for violin and orchestra awakens a lot of assocations and moods in the mind of the listener. Using musical means, the basic solemn character of the piece, the expression which at first is quite reserved and later gets more expressive portrays various stages of grief. The song of the solo violin is reminiscent of a voice with which a person articulates his despair.
