| Description: |
Battle and crisis situations – lending the necessary musical drama to them was a speciality of Igor Stravinsky. In his ballet 'The Firebird' premiered in 1910, the twenty-seven-year-old composer describes the breathtaking battle between the good and the evil forces. With this music written for large-scale orchestra, Stravinsky forestalled all film composers of our time; in fact, he even outdid them in dramatic effect. This is subtly thought out battle music with precisely crafted choreography as could not be more exciting.
