Hornpipe from the music for Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" (1918-1920)
für Kammerorchester
Instrumentation: orchestra
Categories: Orchestra New Year's Eve Dance Landscape & Nature Highway Encore! lazy weekends Comedy & Fun Film Celebration Joy
Description:
The lively hornpipe (here called 'Masquerade') has been taken from Erich Wolfgang Korngold's incidental music on Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing'. The tremendously fast, turning rhythms of Korngold's 'Masquerade' evoke the association of early morning activity, hectic, yet happy rush, or even playing children. This shows very clearly how brilliantly Korngold knew how to set music to pictures. He later wrote the music for more than 20 Hollywood films, including the Oscar-winning music of 'The Adventures of Robin Hood'.
