Peteris Vasks understands his work Viatore (Latvian = wanderer) as a tribute to the Estonian composer Arvo Part. His 'tintinnabuli' style gleams from time to time through to elegic structure and gives the piece a very special brillance in sound.
The passage you hear is a section of the work that is always releated in the same manner. Only changes in the loudness create a structural architecture. Thus, the work can be played in infinite loops and can be used for presentations, DVD menus and similar purposes.
