| Description: |
Edward Elgar composed the 'Love's Greeting' in 1888 as a little present in return for a poem his future wife had written for him as a surprise. The charming melody may have strengthened her love for only a little later did Elgar write in his diary: 'Engagement with the lovely A.' Performed for the first time in the orchestral version with overwhelming success, 'Salut d'amour' was the first work by Elgar to be published. Numerous arrangements are ample proof of the popularity of this salon piece.
