| Description: |
Rich in contrasts, Xiaogang Ye's expressive work with the unforgettable hammering opening rhythms lives on the constant change between percussion-dominated parts, surprising pauses and free melodic intermediate passages. 'Nine Horses' was inspired by a traditional Chinese piece from Canton. Born in 1955, Ye is one of the leading composers in China. He is regarded as pioneer in the liberation of Chinese music from doctrines unrelated to the arts. Concerts of new music are always sold out immediately in China, with people from all classes attending.
