| Description: |
Anyone who needs music for high-powered action in a sequence of scenes will feel quite at home with Paris – Dakar! The subject is the most famous car rally worldwide. Even as a child, Peter Eötvös was already captivated by the drivers’ breakneck manoeuvres. The composer demands an equal degree of commitment and energy from the musicians of the big band. Trumpets fight a duel, one of the saxophones draws the shorter straw and the action continues relentlessly. It takes no longer than 20 seconds to pass through a village, after which the landscape transforms itself once again. Off to the desert! Let’s go!
CD: Peter Eötvös, Dirigent – Laszlo Göz, Posaune – Budapest Jazz Orchestra, BMC Records BMC 097 |
