| Description: |
The year 1996 saw the death of the composer Toru Takemitsu. His death inspired Mark-Anthony Turnage to write a two-minute piece for piano in the style of the Japanese composer. Later Turnage used the 'Tune for Toru' in his five-movement piano suite 'True Life Stories'. With its dreamy, intimate sounds, his piece is a sincere tribute to the highly regarded Japanese musician. The elegiac theme, repeated several times, lingers in the mind of the listener and even seems to keep resounding after the final chord has died.
